Intel has partnered with Hyve, the German open innovation company, to hold a global online co-creation contest, the contest invites people anywhere to use their imagination and present innovative ideas that embody a new sensing technology. Imagine five years into the future, and you have on you (or with you) a very small device that can see and hear, as well as remember and understand, everything around you. The question is simply: how should this ground-breaking technology best be used?
The contest is open to everyone, whether technology experts, students, science fiction fans, designers, self-appointed inventors, scientists or practical thinkers.
Here are some of the innovative ideas that have come in so far:

This idea is for a device which would record the world around the user and upload daily events to a cloud which the user can then review later, helping them relive their experiences. memoRe could be used socially (sharing aspects of their life with friends and family) and/or be utilized by the business community to record important details from meetings.

The concept is to create a personal assistant which would record the user’s activities all day long. The device would synchronize to PCs & smartphones and then assist with all one does throughout the day, i.e. jogging (logging miles & calories), important reminders, route planning, arranging required services and even playing the music that’s been hummed all morning and adding that as a favorite in synchronized media players.
On behalf of Intel, HYVE will award prizes amounting to a total value of $10,000:
- 1st place: $5,000
- 2nd place: $2,500
- 3rd place: $1,500
- 4th-10th place: Non-monetary prizes such as vouchers or products (worth $1,000 in total)
The contest began on November 6th, 2012 and ideas are being accepted through December 18th, 2012. The ideas are posted online where registered users can review and comment openly.
